The Karlovy Vary Folklore Festival aims to preserve and revive the customs, dances, and folk music of the Karlovy Vary region, thereby strengthening the residents’ connection with the area where they live, which has been shaped by a complex historical development. Through its openness to all age and social groups, and their active participation in many accompanying events, the festival provides a space for forming new friendships as well as professional contacts.

During the festival, performers from all corners of the world come together and engage directly with the audience, regardless of nationality, race, or religious belief. The festival thus creates a space for international cultural dialogue. The Karlovy Vary Folklore Festival also aims to contribute to mutual respect and tolerance through the folklore and traditions of the national minorities living in the Czech Republic, thereby facilitating their coexistence with Czech culture.
